Blinded By Materialistic things

Don't know if anyone read the new article on ASIAONE about this man who is not able to pay for his maintainance to his ex-wife. It's a really sad story. When I finish reading the article, I seriously look around my surrounding and suddenly realised that I have things that are not necessary to have. They are NICE TO HAVE but NOT NECESSARY. Do you get what I mean?

His son who is in NTU doesn't have enought money to buy books and I have tb that i bought but seldom make use of. Also, they feed on canned food and instant noodles everyday! And here I am, complaining that I am always hungry! I have like lotions of all sorts, music speakers, comforty bed with 3 blankets(seriously here is cold lah) ..... and the list goes now. But all they have in their rental 1 room apartment is 1 mattress which father and son share, 1 desk and no tv. Life is simple for them and they purchase only what is essential for their lives and survival. All the materials around me suddenly made me realised how forunate I am, and you guys as well.

Reading about their story really make me open a whole new perspective of life.

Haha I really hope I can reduce my spending and save more!!! It's going to be a hard year in 2010 .
