FINALLY! I just finished my History essay last night! 5 weeks of sweat and blood!! It's not perfect yet, like the referencing and all but at least I have written the entire essay! The question for this term was horrible man! The teacher don't really have an idea as well! I just hope that I pass so that I can drop it in term 4!

Last wed, we went to the genetic department in Melbourne uni to do some experiments. We had to observe some fruit flies (Drosophila melanogaster) to determine whether they had normal wings or vestigial wings. I studied it during J2 but I didn't get to look at real flies. First, we had to put them to sleep by letting them breathe in carbon dioxide! haha which means that the CO2 tap had to be turned on the entire time we were observing them if not they would wake up and fly away. After we were finished with them, they had to go to sleep permanently! We would put them in a jar labelled 'fly morgue' which is actually vinegar. It's like a death chamber! So sad! I wanted to let them go but there were about 25-30 flies so it was kinda hard to save all of them. Oh well but it was loads of fun! Managed to capture some photod of my drosophila.
The view through the micscope...
Sleep drosophila sleep

Bottle full of DEAD flies!

All my work is piling up like a mountain thanks to history -_-
